Restrictions imposed on Highway 57

| February 10, 2015 6:44 PM

SANDPOINT — Weight and speed restrictions are being added to two more Idaho highways on Wednesday due to premature spring break-up conditions.

A 14.7-mile section of Highway 57 (from Coolin Bay Road to the highway’s end) and a 21.4-mile section of Highway 3 (from its junction with Highway 97 to its junction with Interstate 90) are being added to list of restricted highways.

The routes are under restriction to protect against potential due to pavements and soils weakened by freeze-thaw cycles and heavier vehicles.

Heavy commercial vehicle more than 10,000 pounds gross vehicle weight will be restricted to 30 miles per hour. Trucks will be allowed legal axle weights, but oversize and annual overweight-permitted vehicles will not be allowed to operate on the highway.

The sections of highway join four other highway segments that were placed under restriction last month:

• U.S. Highway 95 (milepost 522-538.56)

• Idaho 41 (milepost 8-39.06)

• Idaho 53 (milepost 0-14.3)

• Idaho 54 (milepost 0-8)
