BCEMS promotes Grande to captain

SANDPOINT — Lisa Grande was collecting her mail at the Spirit Lake post office in 1989 when she glanced over at the community message board and saw a poster.
“It said, ‘If you want to meet the nicest people by accident, call this number,’” Grande said.
The number led her to Spirit Lake Ambulance and started her on a career path that took her to the Bonner County Commissioners’ office on Tuesday, where captain’s bars were pinned to her collar.
Grande is the first woman to be promoted to an officer’s post in the 10-year history of Bonner County EMS.
“It’s an honor,” Grande said after the pinning ceremony.
