Otter inks broadband funding bill

BOISE — Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter on Wednesday signed into law a $3.64 million fast-track funding bill the Legislature quickly approved to pay for continuing operations of the Idaho Education Network, according to a Wednesday news release.

The bill also provides legislative guidance on use of the appropriation to the Idaho Department of Education, which will be responsible for ensuring payments to vendors providing broadband Internet connectivity to Idaho public schools.
