Bail stands in stabbing case

SANDPOINT — A bail reduction request was denied Wednesday for a young Sandpoint man accused of stabbing another young man on New Year’s Eve.

Tyler John Bowlby-Brooks’ defense counsel moved for a reduction in his client’s $250,000 bail, contending it was excessive. Chief Deputy Public Defender Dan Taylor further argued the lifelong Sandpoint resident has strong family ties to the area, according to court documents.

Bonner County Prosecutor Louis Marshall objected to a reduction, noting that Bowlby-Brooks stabbed the alleged victim twice during the altercation and gave shifting stories to Sandpoint Police.
