Keeping it local

SANDPOINT — The stars seemed to have aligned for one local business, which recently combined a sound idea with a strong reputation and placed them both in a great location.

Sand Creek Custom Wear opened shop in downtown Sandpoint on Jan. 5, a little more than a week after new owners Jackie and Peter Gillis purchased Meyer’s SporTees from Nancy Meyer, who had announced retirement plans after 25 successful years in business.

The Gillises added that store’s products to the embroidery and screen-printing services offered through Earle’s Embroidery since 2000, as well as MAD Screen Printing, which also operates under the same roof. The embroidery and screen-printing business, however, had been located on McGhee Road, while Meyer’s shop was a mainstay at the Bonner Mall.
