Bulldogs get defensive in win over Hawks
RATHDRUM — Skyler Speakman hit a pair of free throws with five seconds remaining as the Sandpoint Bulldogs held off the Lakeland Hawks 45-43 in a 4A Inland Empire League game on Thursday at Hawk Court.
Davan Norris scored 11 points to lead the Bulldogs (6-9, 2-0 4A IEL), who dominated the second and third quarters with some shut down defense.
“The defense was key, we just sort of shut them down,” said Bulldogs assistant coach Mike Roos, lauding the defense of Troy Mitton and Dylan Kuzmich. “Davan and Troy his big threes down the stretch, which kind of spring boarded us into the lead. The boys are getting better every day in practice, and you’re starting to see it.”
