PRIEST RIVER — A benefit dinner and auction is set to help the family of Alex Hughes, a Bonner County sheriff’s deputy who was critically injured in a traffic collision while on duty last month.

A spaghetti feed and live auction is set for Saturday, March 7, at Priest River Lamanna High School. The spaghetti feed starts at 2 p.m. and the live auction gets under way at 3 p.m.

Hughes, a married father of three young children, was injured while making a U-turn on U.S. Highway 95 in Careywood on Jan. 20. Idaho State Police said a tractor-trailer crashed into Hughes’ patrol sport utility vehicle while he was making the maneuver.
