Sandpoint mulls city administrator post
SANDPOINT — The City Council formally considered a new position on the city’s staff at its regular meeting Wednesday evening: city administrator.
“The position being proposed is city administrator, not city manager,” Mayor Carrie Logan clarified ahead of preliminary budget discussions that includes $116,268 in funding for the position. “The appointment of a city administrator does not eliminate the election of a mayor.”
The position, she said, is intended to help carry out the polices of the elected mayor and the council members that are “expressed through legislative action and a budget.”
The administrator position would be revenue neutral. Funding would come from carving out a portion of each of the city’s existing departmental budgets, since all departments would benefit from the administrators position, according to city treasurer Shannon Syth.
