Debate on EMS issue should be on its merits

You are absolutely correct that I am elected by the people and I am here to listen to their counsel and to make decisions that best represent their interests. I hope to never lose sight of this responsibility.

However, there are issues that underlie your letter that may not be clear to the readers. First off, you are a captain of the Selkirk Fire, Rescue and EMS Department that I feel is unhappy about the recent decision by the Bonner County commissioners to not renew the Sagle Fire District ambulance contract because we feel that Bonner County EMS can provide an improved quality and cost-effective service by providing a dedicated EMS ambulance service.
