Tiny Hawk and Mini Hawk sports camps coming soon

SANDPOINT — You’re never too young to learn the life sport of tennis, and opportunities abound for the youth of Sandpoint this summer to do just that.

Registration for 2015 youth tennis season has begun, with multiple sessions offered for all age groups. Sessions will fill fast so register early to guarantee your spot. Partial scholarships are available on a need basis.

• Tennis for Tiny Tots (Ages 4-5)

Special training techniques and toys will be used to keep our Tiny Tots smiling and having fun. The class size is very limited, between two and six kids. Lessons are held at Lakeview Park, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. each day. The class fee is $12 ($2 city discount).

Session No. 1 is June 16 and 18; Session No. 3 is June 30 and July 1; Session No. 4 is July 7 and 9; Session No. 6 is July 21 and 23; and Session No. 7 is July 28 and 30.

• Tennis for Hot Hitters (Ages 6-7)

Hot Hitters will enjoy training with age appropriate techniques, toys, and a healthy dose of fun. Lessons are held at Lakeview Park, Monday through Thursday, from 9–10 a.m. each day. Class maximum of 12 kids. The class fee is $23 ($3 city discount).

Session No. 1 is June 15-18; No. 3 is June 29-July 2; No. 4 is July 6-9; No. 6 is Luly 20-23; and No. 7 is July 27-30.

• Tennis for Beginner Youth (Ages 8-12)

These lessons introduce beginner players to sound tennis fundamentals. All sessions are held at Lakeview Park, Monday through Thursday, from 10 –11 a.m. each day. The class fee is $23 ($3 city discount).

Session No. 1 is June 15-18; No. 3 is June 29-July 2; No. 4 is July 6-9; No. 6 is July 20-23; No. 7 is July 27-30.

• Tennis for Intermediate Youth (Ages 8-12)

These lessons teach fundamentals, strategy and play to intermediate players. Beginning lessons or play experience is required. All sessions are held at Lakeview Park, Monday through Thursday, from 11 a.m. to noon. The class fee is $23 ($3 city discount.

Session No. 1 is June 15-18; No. 3 is June 29-July 2; No. 4 is July 6-9; No. 6 is July 20-23; and No. 7 is July 27-30.

• Tennis Teen Skill Development (middle school and high school)

These summer tennis sessions are designed for middle school or high school age players with previous experience, to build upon basic fundamentals, to improve their game, and take it to the next level. Players will work on stroke refinement, movement on the court and strategy. All sessions are held at Lakeview Park, Monday through Thursday, from noon to 1 p.m. The class fee is $23 ($3 city discount).

Session No. 3 is June 29-July 2; No. 6 is July 20-23; and No. 7 is July 27-30.

• Tennis Intensive Skill Development (high school)

This summer session is for players who have considerable playing experience. Participants will work on stroke refinement, movement, strategy and what it takes to be a winning varsity player. All sessions are held at Lakeview Park, Monday through Thursday, from noon-1 p.m. The class fee is $23 ($3 city discount).

Session No. 1 is June 15-18; and No. 4 is July 6-9.
