Swim lessons set for City Beach

SANDPOINT — It’s never too late or too early to learn how to swim. New this year, registration has begun for Sandpoint Parks and Rec swim lessons

The swim lessons are designed to teach basic swimming skills to students of all abilities, with a special emphasis on water safety. Session No. 1 will take place on July 20, 21, 22, 23, 27, 28, 29 and 30, with all lessons held in the open water at City Beach.

Class offerings include: Parent and Tot class, for ages 1-3 years-old, at noon, $27; Perch class for ages 3-5 years-old, at noon, $37; Perch class for ages 3-5 years-old, at 1 p.m., $37; Rainbow trout class for ages 6-12 (beginner through competent floater), at 2 p.m., $37; and Kokanee class for ages 6-12 years-old/teen/adult (competent floaters through advanced), at 3 p.m., $37.

Parents must get in the water with their child for the Parent Tot class. Class is held Monday through Thursday for two weeks, with Fridays reserved for weather make-ups.

To register, visit the Parks and Recreation office located in City Hall at 1123 Lake St. Registration will be on a first come, first serve basis. Kids need not be present at registration. Family rates and partial scholarships will be available. The deadline to register is July 10.

City of Sandpoint residents will receive a $3/child discount from above listed fees. A parent letter detailing procedure for classes canceled due to weather will be provided at registration.
