County's actions reek of corruption

| June 23, 2015 7:00 AM

Liz and Matt Deen have owned their home on Cherry Lane (Clark Fork) since 2010.  The majority of their land is federally protected wetlands and floods every spring.

Their home began as a barn.  As a child I rode horses here, played in the creek, and built beautiful forts with my brothers. My best childhood memories are here.

The Deens are now besieged by another resident. A legal easement on Cherry Lane was approved by Bonner County in 2003, but this resident has illegally trespassed, instigated the removal of their fences and gates, rebuilt a foot bridge for vehicles and has rerouted traffic through the middle of their property. Bonner County commissioners gave permission for the other resident to do this. At stake is a fine of up to $37,500 per day by the Army Corps of Engineers.
