SANDPOINT — Sandpoint Police are urging residents to report crime in their neighborhoods in a timely manner.

Captain Rick Bailey said two recent attempted break-ins have been reported to police long after they occurred, which hindered their investigation.

“If we know that there’s an issue in one area of town, I’m going to put boots in that area to and get the problem resolved,” said Bailey. “But if I don’t know you’re having a problem and I don’t know your neighborhood is having a problem, it’s so hard to address it.”

Bailey added that crime problems tend to grow if they’re not quickly addressed.
