Today's levy vote will determine district's direction

SANDPOINT — It’s D-Day for the Lake Pend Oreille School District.

Voters today will decide the fate of a sizable chunk of the district’s staff, and all of the district’s athletic, extracurricular activities, and curriculum materials. A thumbs up from voters will maintain the status quo.  Thumbs down and things will change radically.

The two-year, $15,767,484 supplemental levy is a smidgen less — $1 million — than the current levy it replaces. It funds one-third of the district’s overall financial needs.

Without it, the school district, geographically the largest in the state, will look and feel much different.
