Trio of Wampus Cats earn all-league honors
CLARK FORK — Three Wampus Cats were honored on the All-North Star League boys basketball team, as voted on recently by the league’s coaches.
Senior post Geoffry Boudousquie posted a handful of double-doubles, and was one of the top shot blockers in the North Star League, anchoring the Wampus Cats’ defense.
“Geoffry always came to play hard, never taking a play off. He was injured late in the year and the team didn’t play as well during his absence, indicating what he means to the team,” said Cats head coach Corey Vogel. “He really developed his skills down on the baseline and could hit any shot all the way out to the three in the corner.”
Senior point guard Brandan Bowen got stronger as the season progressed, leading the team in assists and steals while also providing some scoring punch.
“Brandan handled the ball better than anyone on the team. His greatest asset was being able to pass the ball as effectively as he shot it,” described Vogel. “He was the best press defender and could put together great bursts of energy on the court to fluster the other team.”
Junior power forward Eich Anderson was also capable of posting a double-double, and used a polished low post game to score 15 points or more six times, including a season-high of 28 against Coeur d’Alene Charter.
“Eich has some of the best footwork in the league down on the post,” said Vogel. “Quick shots underneath and a great long range shot from out front made him hard to defend. He was a rebound machine and will only get better next year as a senior.”
