| March 19, 2015 7:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Once again, Sandpoint Parks and Recreation and the Sandpoint Sailing Association are combining to offer free Saturday Sailing Workshops.

The first one will be held on March 21 at the Sandpoint Community Hall (204 First Ave.). The cruising workshop will run from 9 a.m.to 1 p.m. and will be led by local sailors Merry Brown-Hayes and friends. The class covers cruising destinations on Lake Pend Oreille and practical how to advice on cruising.

The second workshop will be held on April 18, also at Sandpoint Community Hall. The race management workshop will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will cover the basics of how to set up a sailboat race course, race committee tasks and how to make it all go smoothly.

The Final workshop will be held May 16 at Community Hall. The new sailor workshop will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will provide an introduction to sailing for the beginner and veteran: basic techniques, theories, knots, terminology, and other neat stuff all while staying warm and dry.

All workshops are open to the public. Adults and youth at least 10 years-old are encouraged to attend one or all three free workshops.
