'Let's play two'

SANDPOINT — The great Ernie Banks uttered that headline more than a half century ago, excited to play a baseball doubleheader.

Nicknamed Mr. Cub, and easily one of the greatest shortstops of all time, Banks passed away in January, but the quote will live on.

The Sandpoint baseball and softball teams will do just that today, when each hosts Priest River in a nonleague doubleheader.

First pitch for the boys game is at 11 a.m. at War Memorial Field, while first pitch for the girls game is 11 a.m. at Sandpoint Middle School.

Come out and enjoy some unseasonably warm weather and catch a game.
