Remains found in Bayview identified

BAYVIEW — The human skeletal remains found near Bayview on Feb. 4 have been identified as those of Billy Vaughn Davis, 44, Coeur d’Alene, the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release Tuesday.

KCSO detectives worked in cooperation with the King County (Wash.) Medical Examiner’s Office on the case.

Davis was last seen by his family in July 2014. They reported him missing the same month. Davis lived a transient lifestyle and it was not uncommon for him to be without contact for periods of time, the press release states.

Detectives are seeking assistance from anyone that may have had contact with Davis, particularly in the spring and summer of 2014. Davis’ friends, associates and activities in the time just prior to his death are of interest to investigators.
