Students get a jump start on college

SANDPOINT — What do you do if you’re a high school student who finds classes unchallenging and boring? Go to college.
That’s what 23 students from Forrest M. Bird Charter Schools are doing. Under the Idaho Advanced Opportunities Dual Credit program, students in various grade levels can accelerate their middle school education, and leverage their high school classes into college credits. It’s a win-win for everyone, according to those in the program.
“I felt like I didn’t belong in high school anymore; that I was beyond that stage,” sophomore Kelsey Hansen said. “I decided to do what I could to move past that.”
