Bulldogs hold own in Spokane

SANDPOINT — Five Sandpoint tennis players advanced to the quarterfinals of the main draw last weekend at the Inland Empire Tennis Tournament in Spokane, which draws high schools from Washington, Oregon and Idaho.

Laney Search and Khloe Kyllonen won their first two matches in a tough draw at No. 1 girls singles, before falling to LaSalle in what Bulldog head coach Kent Anderson called the most exciting match of the quarters.

“The two teams played dead even in an amazing battle that ended in a tie-breaker that went all the way to 18-16,” said Anderson. “They were fearlessly attacking the net against pounding ground strokes. It was the best match of the year for these two.”
