PRIEST RIVER — Meager mountain snows, a dry spring and above-average temperatures forecast for this summer are an uncommon recipe for river and lake enthusiasts to enjoy some great early recreation on the water this season.

However, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers representatives warned boaters not to expect to be launching their vessels early this summer during a public meeting last Thursday at the Priest River Event Center.

Representatives from the Corps of Engineers, Bonneville Power Administration, National Weather Service and Pend Oreille Basin Commission were on hand to discuss weather and streamflow predictions as well as current and upcoming operations in the Pend Oreille Basin.
