Qualls picked for city post

SANDPOINT — The city quietly announced the nomination of Aaron Qualls by an interview panel to fill the post of city planning and economic development director after an amendment to the council meeting agenda was published late Tuesday afternoon.

“I’m moving his name forward and it will be up to council to take action to approve the appointment,” Mayor Carrie Logan said during a phone interview.

Logan said that Qualls had the best focus on economic development, vision for the town, and an understanding of what the town was about.

“It’s an important position and an important time for Sandpoint,” Qualls said at his office during a break from preparing for two conditional use permit public hearings Tuesday evening.
