Noxious weed research rules are amended

| May 9, 2015 7:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Lake Pend Oreille Waterkeeper reached a major milestone at the end of the 2015 legislative session with the passage of Senate Bill 1073, according to a press release.

LPOW worked with Sen. Shawn Keough, R-Kootenai, and Rep. Matt Erpelding, R-Boise, to draft the bill’s language that amended Idaho’s noxious weed law to facilitate research on biological control methods for noxious weeds.

The amendments authorize the Idaho Department of Agriculture director to allow for the collection, removal and movement of noxious weeds from infested areas to in-state facilities for the purpose of biological control research under a set of controlled provisions.
