Common Core is hurting our students

As the mother of young children, I’m dismayed at what teaching Common Core in our school district is doing to our children’s education. What I’m seeing is that basic math problems are required to be solved in such a twisted and difficult way that kids are having a really difficult time trying to solve them. So, after a long day at work, my husband or I need to spend at least an hour helping our child, who is an otherwise excellent student, struggle through these ordinary math problems. This is so unnecessary.
