SANDPOINT — A light rain, dirt and kids — all the ingredients necessary for a good time and an ongoing learning opportunity.

Such was the case at Farmin Stidwell Elementary School Wednesday as students from the Lake Pend Oreille School District’s multi-age experiential learning pilot program literally got down and dirty with the help of community volunteers to install raised garden beds.

The garden is part of an effort that has been spreading, school by school, across Bonner County thanks to organizer Michele Murphee, who, along with some friends, have nurtured the program along.
