Presser, Randles named to all-star team
SANDPOINT — Sandpoint sophomore Casey Randles and junior Tyler Presser have been selected to Idaway’s state All Star wrestling team. The two will accompany a team other Idaho all-stars to compete in upcoming duals at El Dorado High School in Placentia, Calif.
The team, which is comprised solely of state finalists or multiple state placers, will open next Friday night with a spotlight dual against California All-Stars. Then on Saturday and Sunday, they will move into a dual tournament against various all star teams from around the California region.
Presser, the 4A 160-pound state runner up, has recently earned the attention of several colleges in Oregon and is expected to sign following his senior year.
Randles, currently ranked 10th in the nation for underclassmen, is coming off perhaps his most impressive performance to date, finishing third at the Western Junior Regionals in Las Vegas last weekend. The lone underclassman in his bracket, which included at least a dozen state placers from the western United States, Randles scored technical falls over three of them, including the 5A state champion from Utah.
His lone loss was a 13-12 defeat to the eventual champion from Missouri. Randles was accompanied in Vegas by teammate and fellow sophomore Preston Bunty, who competed in both freestyle and folkstyle, securing a pair of wins in both styles.
