Sprint medley relay team fifth to lead Bulldogs at state track

BOISE — The sprint medley relay team of Kyle Perry, Kaleb Merril, Kenny Kovalchuk and Mark Kennaly finished fifth in 3:34 to lead the Bulldog track team on day one of the 4A state tournament on Friday at Donna Larsen Park in Boise.

Jacob Graham clocked a 9:59 to finish seventh, ahead of teammate Sam Powell, who finished 10th in 10:14. Sam Palmer was the final Bulldog to score points on the first day with an eighth place finish in the discus with a throw of 121-05.

Mikhaela Woodward clocked a 12:13 to finish ninth in the 3,200, Tyler Harris was 15th in the triple jump (37-8) and Sawyer Seley received a no-height in the high jump to round out the finals on Friday.

Kennaly was sixth in the 400 in prelims, advancing to today’s final. Grace Bradley was 13th in the 400, and Claire Keener 11th in the 200 and 15th in the 100 to round out the Bulldogs in action on day one.

The rest of the field events and running finals will be held today.
