Council's sinister plan must be exposed

In 1898, Stephen M. White, United States senator from California, argued against our expansionist policy leading to the subjugation of the Philippines. “If we ratify the treaty, we must show the nations of the world that we have not only the technical right, but also the physical strength, to enforce our mandates; and hence it follows irresistibly that we must send our arms abroad and bring the Mohommedans and others into subjection.” Prophetic words or just being logical?
