Top Dog Wrestling to host Panhandle Championships

SANDPOINT — Top Dog Wrestling will wrap up the fall season when it plays host to more than 500 youth wrestlers from around the region at the Panhandle Championships, with action slated to being on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 8:30 a.m. at Sandpoint Middle School. 

The Top Dogs have fared well at a host of recent tournaments. Jordan Tyler hit a five-point throw to capture the St. Maries tournament last weekend at St Maries High School. The third tournament of the North Idaho Wrestling League season, Tyler, along with fellow champions Blake and Shane Sherrill and Owen Wimmer, spearheaded a valiant effort that saw 18 Top Dogs earn top four finishes.

The previous weekend, 10 Top Dogs advanced to the finals, including several who faced teammates in the semi-finals or championship matches, including eventual champions Shane Sherrill and Christian Troumbley.

Despite missing several fall athletes, the Top Dogs kicked off the season Oct. 24 in Bonners Ferry, where 18 Top Dogs earned top four finishes, including Troumbley and Dylan Nalley.
