Cutoff project starts next year
SANDPOINT — Construction of a long-awaited project to improve Schweitzer Cutoff Road is expected to start next year.
The project will reconstruct the cutoff road from North Boyer Avenue to the Bonner County Fairgounds. The engineer’s estimate was $1.4 million, but an apparent low bid of $1.3 has emerged, according to Dan Coonce, federal aid area manager for the Local Highway Technical Assistance Council in Boise.
Construction is expected to start during the next construction season, said Sandpoint Public Works Director Kody Van Dyk. The work is forecasted to last a couple of months.
