'I was the unlikely face of homelessness'

SANDPOINT — Out of work, broke and homeless. It could happen to anyone, we tend to say. But what if it did come home to roost?

Hitting bottom doesn’t always result from a slow, downward spiral, nor is it necessarily the sum of a multitude of poor choices. In fact, it can strike like a lightning bolt and knock the stilts out from under even the most improbable candidates.

“I was the unlikely face of homelessness,” said Emmy Keiser. “Now I know that it really can happen to any of us.”
