Sidewalks are another disconnect with city

Concerning the article on the front page of the Nov. 6 Bee about the city charging a property owner $16,000 to put a sidewalk on his property. This is a prime example of the disconnect between the city and people’s everyday lives — and a good forecast of what likely to expect from our new mayor. Even with labor, in what reality does 50-foot or 75-foot by 4-foot area of concrete cost $16,000? This could buy a late-model, low-mileage used car.
