The city of Sandpoint is a walking town

| November 19, 2015 6:00 AM

Young moms are out with babes and toddlers, kids walk to school, to parks and to many other places. Residents walk to the Festival, Panida, 4th of July Parade, for coffee and lunch, to work, to the bus, and to exercise. It’s transportation that’s sociable, healthy and enjoyable for people of all ages and most abilities.

But, sharing the road with cars and trucks makes it unsafe. A vehicle driving 40 mph has an 85 percent chance of killing anyone it strikes. To be a walking town for everyone, day and night, we need safe crossings and to separate those walking from those driving. That means sidewalks.
