SANDPOINT — The best coaches can make adjustments on the fly, both in the game, and during the course of a season.

So when the offense wasn’t performing up to his lofty standards, at least in the rushing game, Sandpoint head coach Satini Puailoa didn’t hesitate to scrap the more east-west version of offense used in the first four games for a decidedly more downhill, power I variety.

Even while ironing out some wrinkles last Friday night, the new offense put up more than 500 yards, and figures to get even better with time.

“We were going sideways. It looked good on paper, and looked good in the spring, but it wasn’t working,” said Puailoa of the mis-direction offense. “The good thing is we’re going forward again. We need to get more physical, be quicker, sharper.”
