'Hope takes teamwork'
SANDPOINT — Hope takes teamwork, and more than 745 volunteers showed that spirit at the Convoy of Hope volunteer gathering Friday evening. More than 1,005 area residents have pledged to serve the community today, giving away more than $1 million in free services.
The event kicks off at 10 a.m. at the Bonner County Fairgrounds. Convoy of Hope hosts the community celebration. The Sandpoint community event will offer for free more than 35,000 pounds of groceries, dental check-ups, haircuts, family portraits, health services, job and career services, a childrens carnival and more. Plum Organics will be offering organic food for babies, toddlers and school-aged children. The event will run while supplies last.
“By bringing free valued services to one location, it creates unity within the community while helping those who are in need of the services,” one of the coordinators Vicki Jeffres said. “It is a ‘Day of Hope’ for the people of Bonner and Boundary counties.”
