SANDPOINT — With a new niece on the way, Sandpoint resident Judy Bell picked up a pattern, bought a sewing machine and began quilting in earnest in 2008. That hobby has turned into a “second career” for Bell, who was chosen as the featured quilter for the Washington State Quilters 37th annual Quilt Show this weekend in Spokane.

The theme is “Vive la Difference,” celebrating the different styles of quilting. The show is Friday through Sunday, Oct. 16-18. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center. Tickets are $8 for unlimited three-day admission. Parking is free.
