Religion shouldn't be tailored for our needs

Recent events such as the Pope’s visit, Supreme Court decisions and presidential campaign rhetoric have caused me to mull over the role of religion in society. To navigate the ongoing conflicts in our society, we must understand some simple facts:
1. The Supreme Court is supposed to be a completely amoral institution.
2. There are definitive distinctions between governmental morality and personal morality.
