Investigation is ongoing for robocalls
SANDPOINT — More attack calls are ringing through to Sandpoint residents’ phones against mayoral candidate Shelby Rognstad. Both Rognstad and his challenger Mose Dunkel have denounced the calls.
“It’s offensive and it’s sad the elections would be marred by this behavior,” Rognstad said. “It’s too bad our citizens here are being harassed.”
The robocalls started on Oct. 5-6. The original call said it was paid for by Sandpoint United Against Shelby. The latest round of calls say it was paid for by “ordinary citizens of Sandpoint,” and not a political candidate.
Sandpoint City Clerk Maree Peck said they have not had the C1 form filed for Sandpoint United Against Shelby, the organization behind the first robocall. That form appoints a treasurer so money can be spent. She said the form they received from the Secretary of State was forwarded to the legal department and to the Sandpoint Police.
