CLARK FORK — Nona Young had a strong serving night, and Clark Fork was strong defensively in a 25-19, 25-11, 25-15 sweep of North Idaho Christian of Hayden Lake in a nonleague volleyball season opener on Tuesday night in Clark Fork.
Young served 14 of the 25 points in the second set, including a run of eight in a row, and the Wampus Cats (1-0) got strong play of Ali Sutton at the net and libero Emily Garman in the back row.
“I was totally amazed,” said head coach Cindy Derr, praising her team’s hustle. “This early on in the season and they were picking up balls that should have gone to the floor. I’m impressed and excited.”
Clark Fork is at 3A Bonners Ferry on Thursday.
