Sandpoint sharp in 4-1 win over Stillwater

| September 4, 2015 7:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Junior Amos Crossingham had a goal and two assists, leading Sandpoint to a convincing 4-1 win over Stillwater Christian in nonleague boys soccer Thursday night under the lights of War Memorial Field.

The much-improved Bulldogs (4-1) continued to display top notch passing, controlling possession and creating a lot of offensive opportunities. C.J. Crane got the scoring started in the 32nd minute, then after an own goal by Stillwater, assisted on Crossingham’s goal to give the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead.

“We moved the ball excellent. The goals were pretty clinical,” said Bulldogs head coach Adam Tajan. “Stillwater always plays us tough. I like where we’re at at this point.”

Jack Rinck capped the scoring with a deep blast from outside the box, bending it past the keeper just inside the far post.

Sandpoint is finally at full strength health-wise, and is playing with a blistering pace early in the season. They feature plus height in the midfield, and a much more experienced unit than last season.

The Bulldogs are at Bonners Ferry tonight at 7 p.m. in the fourth consecutive night game.
