SANDPOINT — At Small House Winery, the name says it all. Owner and winemaker Patrick Werry began bottling his creations about seven years ago, after finding the essentials in a Craigslist post.

“When I started out, we had four barrels in a garage,” he said.

He later moved to a one-bay space off of Baldy Mountain Road and, after gearing up to sell commercially two years ago, took over the bay next door, as well. Werry now has 85 barrels on site and produces about 800 cases of wine a year.

One of the biggest challenges in those early years was finding vineyards that would sell grapes in the small amounts the vintner could afford and accommodate. All that has changed as both increased production volume and industry acclaim are starting to put Small House on the map.
