SANDPOINT — The city of Sandpoint will not take public input on the city administrator candidates, city clerk Maree Peck said.

“Nothing has been planned for (public comment), as of today,” Peck said to The Daily Bee on Tuesday. “That determination is left up to the mayor.”

City Attorney Scot Campbell said public comment is not required when hiring a department head for the city, as there is no change in how the government is ran. The city administrator will answer to the mayor, who answers to the city council.

“We are not changing our form of government. There is no more or less power to the mayor,” Campbell said. “It's like a super department head, but a department head none the less.”
