SANDPOINT — There was good news and bad news when Mead, arguably the top Greater Spokane League team, faced Sandpoint in nonleague girls soccer on Monday at sunny Pine St. Field.
The bad news is the Bulldogs (3-4-2) lost 4-1 to the Panthers (4-0), the preseason pick to win the GSL, and save for a couple of friendly bounces off the goal posts and a few near misses, it could have been even worse.
The good news is the 4A teams in the state of Idaho are far inferior to the Panthers, and at the end of the day, beating the 4As is really all that matters. The rest is just seasoning for a state run.
