PONDERAY — A small block of steel may seem meaningless to some, but this steel comes from one of America’s largest tragedies, the World Trade Center. Tim Duffy, a collapse survivor from 9/11, delivered the piece of steel from the World Trade Center to Carpet One in Ponderay Tuesday. About 50 residents showed their appreciation during the presentation.

Duffy was representing Building for America’s Bravest, part of the Stephen Siller Foundation. Stephen Siller was one of seven children who lost his parents when he was about 8 years old, and was basically raised by his siblings, Duffy said. He had just gotten off work from his fire station and was headed into New Jersey to go golfing with his brothers when he heard the scanner going crazy.
