SANDPOINT — One of the most epic views in the Inland Northwest is about to get a dose of luxury.

Schweitzer Mountain Resort announced it has broken ground on a summit lodge. The 13,000-square-foot lodge is being constructed between the off-load stations for the Great Escape Quad and Snow Ghost chairlifts.

“It's going to be absolutely beautiful structure,” said Dig Chrismer, the resort's marketing manager.

The ground level will house some long-awaited restrooms and Ski Patrol dispatch center. The lodge's second floor will have a cafeteria capable of seating up to 150 guests, in addition to a restaurant and bar that will seat up to 30.

The lodge's third floor will house overnight lodging for guests.

“We're still in the process of finalizing the details of how that's going to work and how exactly we'll accommodate folks,” said Chrismer.
