Speakman, Bokowy lead Bulldog swimmers at Cd'A meet
COEUR d’ALENE — Led by Payton Bokowy, Sierra Speakman and Kate Matlosz, the Bulldog girls swim team notched strong dual wins over Bonneville, Hillcrest, Idaho Falls, Rigby and Skyline, losing only to Coeur d’Alene at a meet Saturday at the Kroc Center in Coeur d’Alene.
Lots of teams from south Idaho competed, with Bokowy dominating the 100 and 50 free fields with wins while leading the Bulldog girls with points. Sierra Speakman finished second in the 500 free and third in the 100 fly, qualifying for state in both, and Matlosz finished second in the 100 breast and third in the 500 free for the Bulldog girls. Emily Hieronymus (4th in 200 free, 3rd in 100 free), Briana Brosnahan (5th in 100 breast) and Hanna Kozlowski (5th in 100 fly) notched top five finishes for Sandpoint.
Seth Bamer led the Bulldog boys with points after finishing third in the 500 free and fourth in the 100 fly. Miles Luce was second in the 200 individual medley to round out the top five placers for Sandpoint, which beat Rigby and Bonneville, lost to Coeur d’Alene and Hillcrest and tied Idaho Falls in duals action.
Sandpoint hosts Lake City on Wednesday in a home opening dual at 4:30 p.m. at the SWAC.
