Carl Donald Olson, 91

Carl Donald Olson, 91, of Chicago, Niles, and recently of Wheeling, Ill., died March 30, 2016.

He was born in St. Maries, Idaho, on July 14, 1924, the son of Carl and Delza (nee Morin) Olson and grew up in Sandpoint, Idaho. Graduated Sandpoint High School in 1942.

He was a World War II veteran, joining the U.S. Navy in 1943.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Marguerite (nee Reitemeier); his daughters, Mary Olson, Patricia Desire, and Christine (Carl) Krzystofczyk; and his sons, John (Margaret) and Paul (Christine) Olson. He is the grandfather of Anne, Alex and Natalie Olson, Sara (Mark) Koehler, Eric Olson, Danielle and Maureen Desire, and Geoffrey Raye, the great-grandfather of Nissa Desire, and Eleanor, Grace, and Ava Koehler.

He was ordained permanent deacon on Dec. 8, 1978, and served at St. Cornelius Parish for 34 years.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 1, 2016, from 3-8 p.m. at St. Cornelius Church, 5430 W. Foster, Chicago, Ill., and Saturday, April 2, 2016, from 9 a.m. until time of the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Interment will be held at Maryhill Cemetery in Niles.
