POST FALLS — Junior lefty Talon Dewey was dealing on Friday in a nonleague baseball game against Timberlake, tossing a no-hitter and striking out 13 batters to lead the Bulldogs to a 12-1 win in a game played at Post Falls High School.

Dewey, who usually pitches out of the bullpen, pounded the strike zone, keeping the Bulldogs (5-5) in the game until the offense finally got going in the fifth inning.

“The biggest thing is consistently throwing strikes. He just got better as the game went on, and we let him go,” described Bulldogs head coach Scott Fitchett. “At the end he dialed it in and pitched the best I've ever seen him pitch, spotting up and mixing speeds. It was really fun to watch.”

Timberlake led 1-0 in the fifth inning, capitalizing on Dewey's four walks, as Jerritt Plunkett and Dewey were locked in a pitching battle. The Bulldogs broke through for four runs in the fifth, plating 12 runs in the final three frames to blow the game open.

Paul Sundquist continues to rake the ball, driving in four runs with another two hits, Caleb Edlund had another three-hit game while driving in two, and Davan Norris was on base all game and scored three runs from the lead off spot.

Fitchett praised the work of catcher Nick Holland, both behind the plate, and on offense, where he was on base all five times and drove in two runs.

“Nick this whole year has matured as a catcher,” praised Fitchett. “We got down early, but didn't get too concerned.”
