Sandpoint UMC kids buy an ark

| April 1, 2016 1:00 AM

The youth at Sandpoint United Methodist Church have been collecting change from the adults in the congregation every other Sunday for five years. Their goal was to raise $5,000 to purchase an ark from Heifer International as a mission outreach project. Heifer calls this “Changing the World Two by Two.”

On Easter Sunday this year, they reached their goal.

The ark consists of 15 “pairs” of animals that Heifer International distributes to families around the world who depend on those animals for better nutrition and for income.

In order to help the youth track their progress, Tom Harvill built a model ark that the kids added pairs of toy animals to, three pairs were added for every $1,000 that was collected.
