Thomas Staudacher, Ph.D.

| April 9, 2016 1:00 AM

Thomas Staudacher, Ph.D., transitioned from this life at his residence in Sagle, Idaho. Born Aug. 3, 1960, in Michigan, Dr. Staudacher lived a full and varied life throughout this country and the world. Preceded in death by both parents, he leaves behind his beloved wife Darlene of 12 years and his previous wife Debbie of 17 years. He also leaves behind his loyal dog Honey, and many good friends, including JT from Arizona.

Dr. Staudacher was fortunate to have spent his final year living in the great community of Sandpoint, Idaho. Having searched for three years, the Sandpoint area won out over many other states and countries for the ultimate retirement destination. A special thanks to Teresa Albert-son of Century 21 Sandpoint River Stone for tirelessly working with us for three years to find the near perfect home which we purchased last September. Teresa is a true gem and a wonderful person to work with.

A special thanks also goes out to Chief Deputy David Hale and Sheriff Wheeler of the Bonner County Sheriff's Office for welcoming two retired law enforcement officers from Arizona to their community. A true example of the Blue Brotherhood that crosses all state lines.

The neighbors and friends made here in Idaho, though short in time are rich in quality. Thanks to Ron and Dollie Behimer, our next-door neighbors for being great friends and wonderful neighbors.

A recognition of the superb medical care which Dr. Staudacher received throughout his cancer diagnosis and treatment must be included here: Brett O'Connor, FNP; Dr. Ian Smith, ENT/Oncologist Surgeon; Dr. Benjamin Mandell. Plastic Surgeon; Dr. Aaron Wagner, Radiologist/Oncologist. All provided exceptional care which was given in an unhurried and caring manner. The medical team at Kootenai General Hospital also provided exceptional care from pre-op to post-op/recovery, to ICU and CCU. Special gratitude for Wayne and Maggie from Bonner General Health Community Hospice.

Having spent 26 years in law enforcement and seven years of service in the United States Army, both as a military policeman and a counterintelligence special agent, Dr. Staudacher lived a life of public service as a sheepdog protecting the sheep from the wolves. It was a life well spent and a lot of fun.

As a Buddhist, death is nothing more than changing your socks and readying for the next journey. The next journey is calling, and Doc T is ready.

Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint is handling the arrangements. Please visit Dr. Staudacher's online memorial at www.lakeviewfuneral.com and sign his guest book.
